Day 14

Litang is a dirty town, not much to see in it, except a nice temple and on old bloke carving prayers in stones in Tibetian. He was actually doing it faster than I could draw these fancy letters on paper. Amazing.

Tried to check out the hot springs near Litang but they were nothing like expected. there were several small pools in small rooms in a huge building which could be filled with thermal water, but the pools themselves looked dirty so we skipped this experience and decided to continue our trip to Daocheng. The road was in good condition and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. On the way we stopped at a small Tibetian village to look around & make some pictures.

Daocheng is a nice little town but unfortunately we received bad news here: we cannot go to Yading (national park) because a special permission is needed to go there with our car. Of course the locals knew a workaround but for much $$$ and they wouldn't take all 4 of us in one jeep but two, so it was out of question.

We checked out the hot springs here as well. The concept was same as in Litang but the pools here were a lot cleaner (don't expect European-like swimming pool standards), so we decided to go in. After the relaxing bath we walked around the small village just outside of the town and found out that every house in the whole village is offering hot pools not just the one we were in. So there are always free private pools.
